Through their Medicines and People Programme the Trustees are committed to creating knowledge that “ensures that the right person gets the right medicine at the right time in a manner that meets the needs and expectations of the individual who will take it” and to ensuring that this knowledge is used appropriately to inform and shape policy and practice relating to medicines and their use.

In addition, the Trust has a specific programme of research bursaries and training grants. The Research Training Bursary Scheme is intended to specifically support community pharmacists who have an interest in developing their skills in conducting research. The Practice Research Awards support pharmacists that want to develop a research career through funding for accredited academic training, research and salary costs. The awards can also be used to fund new areas of research, for example, pre-pilot and feasibility studies that would not be considered by other funding bodies.
