BPC Practice Research Conference Award

Applications or nominations for the 2009 Practice Research Conference Award are invited for the consideration of the British Pharmaceutical Conference (BPC) Practice Research Panel.

This prestigious award, sponsored by the Pharmacy Practice Research Trust, recognises individuals who have made a significant contribution to the field of pharmacy practice research and who have the potential to become a leader in the field.

Typically, applicants should be at the mid-point of their career (e.g. Senior Lecturer or Senior Research Fellow). The winner will receive £1000 and have the opportunity to deliver a 30 minute lecture at September's Practice@BPC, based primarily on the applicant's own research.

It is not a necessary requirement that applicants are based in a School of Pharmacy or be a registered pharmacist and international applications are welcome.

Personal applicants should submit the following:

  • Full academic CV demonstrating professional and academic track record including peer review experience, publications and details of significant grants awarded
  • Brief personal statement of up to 2 sides of A4
  • Proposed lecture title, an outline of the topics to be covered in the lecture and a statement of how the research to be presented contributes to knowledge in relation to healthcare generally and pharmacy practice specifically.

To nominate an individual, submit on one side of A4 the following:

  • how the individual has made a significant contribution to the field of pharmacy practice research; and
  • why the nominee has the potential to become a leader in the field.

If nominating an individual please seek permission to do so from the nominee.

Applicants/nominees will be judged against the following criteria:

  • Grants held
  • Quality of published research
  • Collaborations (national and international)
  • Evidence of research leadership
  • Relevance of research to policy and practice
  • Quality of proposed lecture content

Applications or nominations should be received by 5pm, Friday 13 March 2009, addressed to: Jessica Phillips, Health Links Events Ltd, Windsor House, 11 High St, Kings Heath, Birmingham B14 7BB.
